Pain Pain Go Away

My dad will be so proud to read this. He gets so mad at my siblings and me when we are gathered around the table for a meal, no matter the occasion, no matter the conversation, we will find a way to bring the conversation around to gas, poop or other gross bodily functions. He has over the years learned to either tune it out or just get up and leave the table. At least there is no food or dinner table involved here. Be proud dad, be proud.

So last night I got all comfy in bed and then holy pain in my stomach! I am not talking about ‘oh that didn’t feel good’ more like ‘am I birthing another child’ kind of pain and it was coming in waves. Very much like contractions. . . not a great way to relax at the end of a very long, trying day. I thought about what I had for dinner, spaghetti with not so great sauce and some cheese and almond milk. Hum, maybe the cheese wasn’t that great or maybe the sauce didn’t like my belly. Whatever it was I was hurting and was pretty much immobilized on my bed. This hasn’t happened in a LONG time so I don’t have a ‘plan of attack’. What the hell do I need to do!?!!?

Plus I am sure you all have heard that if you are stressed your baby will react to that. YUP every time I would get a wave and start cringing, Haven would wake up and start crying. It isn’t the easiest to calm a baby when you feel like your stomach is being stabbed by a thousand knives.

First thing I did was grab my Di-Gize and rub a few drops all over my belly. 10 minutes later I was still in fetal position in bed. UGH. I made the hubs get up and get my two Tums and give me the infant belly massage. I even did bicycle legs, I am not even kidding. 10 minutes after that I was still hurting. Seriously?!!? This isn’t cutting it! So I got on my oily group and begged for help. My friend Erica was to the rescue with a response I wasn’t expecting. She suggested Fennel. Reeeeaaaally? Fennel was my go to for milk supply but that’s all I thought. So down the stairs I ran. . .

Three drops of fennel on the stomach area and back up the stairs with the bottle in hand. I plopped myself in bed with a little baby next to me and the next thing I knew it was 3 am and someone was hungry. The pain was gone! Seriously gone. Holy lord it was a wonderful feeling. So we cuddled up for a middle of the night snack and snuggled till morning.

I love finding new uses for each of the oils that we have bought for one reason or another. Here are some of the properties for Fennel. Read up, you may find that you need it in your arsenal.
