Feeeed Me

So we have hit the six month mark. Sad times. . . Baby H is growing up. She is going for her six month appointment on Wednesday of this week but we are already talking about starting solids. She has been completely breastfed up to this point. She does show quite a bit of interest in food, especially slapping her hand straight in the middle of mommy’s plate.

With A, we started with making our own baby food but I got stumped after apples and carrots so we decided to buy organic baby food. Plus I am just going to put it out there, I was lazy. But this time around we are going to do things a little different. We are going to do Baby Led Weaning, or Baby Self-Feeding as I am not weaning her from breast milk any time soon.

I bought a few avocados from the store on Sunday so that will be our first test. I am really excited to try this new way of feeding and really hope that all goes as planned. She is a chunky baby so feeding her food isn’t a huge priority. I just think it will be fun.

Another dunk-me-in-honey-and- roll-me-in-granola, crunchy momma thing I am thinking about is the Baltic Amber necklaces. This girl can produce so much slobber you would think she was Hooch the dog. She can go through three bibs in a day!! I am hoping that this necklace will help control the craziness.

In other news, she is rolling and Army crawling everywhere. I can’t wait until she gets her knees underneath her to really start rockin’ and rollin’. She will be so much happier once she is mobile.

Just so Aspen doesn’t feel left out, she started preschool in May and is making great advances in the new class! She is speaking much clearer and is a puzzle master. They have pulled puzzles from the VPK classroom to keep her busy. She is also a sassy little girl. Some of the things that come out of her mouth astound me and make me laugh. For example, we are those parents that count to 3 so she has the opportunity to do the right thing. She has now start to say back to us, “I don’t want you to count.” The first time I heard it I was almost on the floor rolling with laughter. She is going to be a fun one. *Sarcasm at it’s finest!* But she is so smart, too smart.

I will keep you updated on our feeding and our little sass girl! Have a GREAT week y’all!!! And leave you with a great picture of my little ladies sleeping.

  1. Yay for homemade baby food! I made three of my four kids food and although it seems hard it really isn’t! I nursed two of my kids until they were 2 years old and that was when they were done :) an awesome website for great recipes and great tips and tricks is Wholesomebabyfood.com

  2. I do homemade food too and am interested in the baby-led feeding, so excited to hear how it goes. For the freezing part of the food making my favorite containers are the munchkin brand. The container part is soft, so you can tell how defrosted it is and it melts easier in these. Also the lids screw on, so much easier. My key to success is using a baby food maker that steams and purees all in the same container. I have the Beaba Babycook now and the puree is super smooth (my boy has a bad gag reflex so this is key) but I wanted the Nuk. This way I just chop some stuff up, throw it in, steam, puree, store. AND I love the Baby Love book for recipes :)
