Fall To-Dos

Life is giving me a run for my money. I have wanted to devote some time to my blog but seriously, Life said “HAHAHA NOPE!” It likes to do that to us every once in a while, doesn’t it? And let me be honest, I am not good at letting go and letting life happen. I get cranky and moody when things get all jacked up. As flighty as I used to be nowadays I need routine or at least some form of schedule to keep my sanity. Or maybe that is more now that others depend on me . . . hum, well whatever it is, I need it.  There have been so many things that I wanted to get going now that fall is here but I just have zero motivation to start or even PLAN to start these things. And maybe this post is just one more way to procrastinate. *Shrug*

Because he makes me happy:

So let’s see here . . . let’s list the things that I am planning to start. If it happens it happens. If it doesn’t there is always 2015 Resolutions! Score! Backup Plan!

  1. I have thought about ditching sugar. I have a wonderful patch of psoriasis on the back of my neck that is just killer and I have tried a few oils, changed my poo’ing habits, and other suggestions on how to deal with it to no avail. Then I researched a bit more and kept reading give up sugar. WAHHHHHHHH! NO! (Chugs some Dr. Better!) I will NOT be giving up my SUGAR! Ok, so I thought about it. There are some great benefits to cutting sugar and other crap from your diet. Maybe I should try the Whole30. I am not completely sure where to start with this one. I guess I should pose the questions out there. What do you think?
  2. The Gate River Run training. Yup this better happen because I want to break the 2 hour mark. I am so close and getting closer every year. 2015 better be the year! I just need to put in the work. The Beginner to 15K is a 12 week program that ends on the race day. I think I could get two rounds of it in before the race if I start soon. (Calculating.) Ok I can do 21 weeks, so not a full 24 weeks to do two rounds buuuuttt I have been running, so I am not in the walk/run mode. Plus I need to be getting my butt in gear to help out my dear friend’s daughter for Girls on the Run. I am really excited about being a Running Buddy! I think it is a great opportunity! If you can pass a background check and can at least run to the end of the block you should look up the Girls on the Run program and see if you can help! www.girlsontherun.org
  3. I am planning on making ALL of my Christmas presents or at least 80% of them for the family. Every year I have to come up with Christmas gifts that people don’t already have that aren’t just things they are like “Gee . . . . thanks.” And then they hide it in the back of their closet. Now that I have EO’s I may just make fun bath stuff for the mommas and pain creams for the pops. Now if only I knew how to knit all the girls would have cute new winter mittens and hats but come on, ain’t nobody got time for that.
  4. I really need to revamp our recipes, it is the ever revolving 2-3 weeks of the same, boring meals. I am so tired of spaghetti but it is toddler friendly. It would also be nice to actually try some new ideas for foods to get her interested in our meals instead of going to the fall back of chicken nuggets. Plus I need to get organized and get my dining room table cleared off of all the overflow so that we can actually use our dining room table for what it is meant for, you know, eating. This point leads me to the next one. . .
  5. Making my own almond milk. We go through gallons of almond milk in our house. Aspen and I have completely given up cow’s milk for drinking. Cheese is another story. My hubs has almost made the switch. It would also be nice to make my own hummus, breads, marinara, peanut butter, etc. But let’s start small shall we? Almond milk first.
  6. Finish up all the house repairs. We have been mid-bathroom renovation for the last year and a half. It is just getting silly all of these half-finished projects. Maybe I will learn how to power spray or install a front door. Wheels are turning. . .
  7. Figure this office/playroom/storage room out to make it usable by all inhabitants. Our office has officially shrunk to a 2’ x 2’ space. It is pitiful. Plus it is making my head hurt thinking about trying to find any of my things. When they say kids consume your life, whoever ‘they’ are, ‘they’ were so damn right. Ugh.
  8. Work on my blog. Here I am . . . working on the blog. That’s right, one thing in the “doing” stage! Yippie! At least that is good for you all.

As if I didn’t already have enough to do, my brain is fighting the urge to make this list at least 10 items long. It doesn’t like it not being rounded out to 10! I am completely fighting the urge. . . . pretty much by hitting the save and post button.

  1. Let me know how the Almond milk thing goes. We switched my son about 1.5 yrs ago after he almost had to get tubes due to ear infections (none since). Baby will be ready for milk in 4 mos and I am going straight to Almond milk, so that will be quite a bit used in this house and Id rather make my own. Also, hummus is super easy to make. Good luck with all of it :)

  2. We’ve slowly been weeding out the sugar and will make the complete switch in about a week. No artificial junk – honey, maple syrup, and coconut palm sugar only. I think the only thing it’s in still is our spaghetti sauce and salad dressings – oh, and the copious amounts of chocolate I consume…sigh. Crap – I just realized the ketchup probably has it too. :(
I’m gonna give myself a good kick in the butt by watching Fed Up next weekend!
